Vera Hartmann is a partner and member of the Management Team. Since joining sauerbruch hutton in 2000 as a project manager, she has overseen project delivery across all phases with a particular focus on residential and educational buildings. In addition to new construction, her extensive expertise includes refurbishments, renovations, timber construction, and the use of bio-based materials.
Vera is involved in two prominent research groups that focus on developing optimized timber load-bearing and floor systems, as well as timber-earth-hybrid structures. She is a member of the Berlin Chamber of Architects and, since 2024, of BDA. She studied architecture at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus, the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) with Enric Miralles, and the University of the Arts Berlin, where she completed her diploma in 1999. During her studies, she gained experience working with Angélil Graham in Zurich and Asymptote Architecture in New York.
